In Memoriam

Professor Emeritus Jørgen Tranum-Jensen

Our close friend and colleague during the hand dissection courses, Professor Emeritus Jørgen Tranum-Jensen, passed away on Monday 5th January 2026 after a short illness. After medical studies, he was officially associated to University of Copenhagen at Panum Institute (UCPH) since 1972 and became a professor in 2006. As the head of the body donation program for many years, he made a substantial contribution to the teaching of medical students, young and older physicians and surgeons, and other occupational categories. In addition, he also contributed to a number of research projects with subsequent publications in international journals.

We were impressed by his passion for anatomy and the commitment to the students. He showed a rare combination of expertise, patience, and genuine care of the subject. He has also shaped many new generations of students through his textbooks. We will remember his nice smile and pleasant behavior during the teaching sessions.

We miss our inspiring mentor and guide to the mystery of anatomy.
